The Golden Gate Gene Club
A Fashion Doll Club
Sunday August 17, 2003
At the Oakland Library, Oakland California

Doll fans gathered in Oakland for some quality doll time and to see our special guest speaker, the very charming and eloquent Ernesto Padro-Campos. Ernesto has been featured in Barbie Bazzar and is well known for his exquisite Fashion Doll photographs. He devoted a whole photoshoot and lecture for our humble club and presented slides during his talk.
His theme was mixing and matching of new and vintage pieces of doll clothing, accesories and props. What he presented was a visual feast for our doll loving eyes.
Using natural light and supplemental reflectors he created veritable doll masterpieces with his simple Pentax Camera.
His subjects ranged from Sydney, Tiny Kitty in a Francie coat, Miss America, Madra, Gene and Trent, to Mdvanni. Things that set his pictures apart from the average are his playful usage of light, and the props he uses on his doll sized sets. Some of the props he used were a tiny Buddah found in the Fillmore, San Francisco and a table that was a rosewood pottery stand purchases in Japantown.
The following images are the dolls that club members brought to share. Click on any picture for a larger view.
