Fiesta de Albuquerque
Saturday luncheon and Banquet
Sunday Farewell Breakfast

Saturday luncheon
We were served up a southwestern fare of bean soup and a yummy taco salad, followed by a nice piece of carrot cake. Doll buds took opportunity for photos, and a little visiting during the meal. We received the “La Nina de la Plaza” outfit pictured below. I hear it looks great with the jewelry from Kim Fisher's workshop.

Trent and Gene look smashing together. I like this outfit as much as the Estrellita dress

Saturday Banquet

The Banquet was a semi formal event and it was fun to people watch, seeing everyone dressed in their finest.
The Spanish theme was hot, with quite a few fan clad senoritas and even a Zorro in attendance. The Banquet Doll“Estrellita” was given out after dinner, along with other goodies like hat boxes, pins, and signed postcards by Jim Howard.

Thank yous were given by Peachie Brown, Pat Messimer-Thorn, and Jim Howard. Peachie mentioned that her Tuesday group sacrificed a lot and worked hard but really had a good time planning the convention. At this time those who had contributed competition and auction dolls were sincerely thanked.

These is are the centerpiece dolls that could be bought by each table during the banquet. They are Madra and Violet in a dress similar to Torch Song. Table mate Karyn Alexadre won the right to purchase ours.

Sunday Farewell Breakfast
Kirk Swenk organized a very fun Starlight Canteen Skit. The people who were involved were very good sports considering the earliness of the hour, and they were a hoot to watch.
After a nice breakfast we received a small sketch of the 2 convention dolls together to complete portfolio that Jim created of each National Gene Convention doll. We were given a Jim Howard designed suede bolero for Gene, and copies of the backdrops used on the revolving displays, and a shoe pack.
