The festivities were kicked off with a gathering in the ballroom and a greeting from Sandra Stillwell. Many, volunteers helped with a free drawing of mega doll loot, from Daisy and Willow doll clothing, to dressed dolls. There was also a doll trivia game, and delicious cakes for conventioneers. At the end of the evening attendees recieved yet more loot. Boxes were given out, and in them were mix and match Gene clothes. Included were pants, a skirt, 2 halters, 2 belts, and a jacket. There was also a jewelry set made by Michelle Fiore and Tomi from California. The weekend parade of give away (yes that means free!) centerpiece dolls was started with the 3 lovely dolls pictured above.

Afterwards many people took advantage of the abundant room shopping available!!!
I snagged Sydney Chase in the Black and White Ball Gown, Daisy and Willow clothes, Kim Fisher's Finishing Touch Jewelry and a Candy doll that was only 5.00 !!

The next morning there was a buffet breakfast and greetings from the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce. Gene and Mel were given keys to the city of Tulsa, and all attendees got a Gene sized key too! Joan and Mel spoke from the heart and briefly, and some of the Ashton Drake designers went up and said a few words. The centerpiece give away dolls were Simply Genes redressed in adorable pant and bolero sets made out of the signature S.G. fabric. There yet more gift out fits! They were different combinations of skirts, short jackets, and slacks, (made with the signature SG fabric) and to top it off a bathrobe!

During the day there were many activities like workshops, and viewing of the competition
and auction dolls, Gene Team signings, and hitting the large and loot laden sales room. I sat in on a cozy and informative workshop with Jim Faraone and stopped in on Sue Robert's talk about Accessorizing and Vignettes . Other workshops available were: customizing shoes, repainting, handbag, jewelry, silk ribbon embroidery, scrapbook, embellishing, reroot, and Cut & Style workshops. I wish I could have went to them all!
