Arc de Triomphe

At the end of the Champs-Elysee, the Arc de Triomphe is the largest triumphal arch in the world. It's about 163 feet high and 147 feet wide. Its accessible through an underground passage. Commissioned by Napolean in 1806 the arch was completed in1836.

You can take an elevator or climb the stairway to the top. We arrived before sunset then went up to the top. At sunset the Eiffel Tower which is wired with strobe lights exploded into light and glittered for 15 minutes. It was a breathtaking sight
.

From the observation deck on the Arc de Triomphe there is a magnificent view of the Champ-Elysees as well as the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Sacre-Coeur. Below the observation deck is an exhibition hall, with lithographs and photos depicting the arch throughout its history

We had good luck again and ran into Tomi, Edith, and Chelsea on the exhibition floor. Our group grew to 10 and we had a nice walk on the Champs-Elysees and then had dinner together.
