Simplicity 9891 adult pattern
was modified for a 9 year old childs Galadrial
dress. I used McCalls 8937 for the hooded cape.
This was made for Jocelyn's Halloween Costume so I was not overly
concerned about making an exact reproduction.
I ended up making 2 separate dresses. The under dress is made
from a cream satin fabric. The overdress is made from curtain
sheers fabric with a embroidered leaf pattern on it. I further
embellished the neckline and made a hip belt out of old pieces
of beaded lace appliqués.
I put a few pieces of the appliqués on the cream crushed
velvet hooded cape too.
My daughter's favorite part of the costume was the elf ears. We
ended up using inexpensive
alien years from a Spirit Store. They were just fine. I was happy
to find the LOTR costume group because I was able to research
this costume and look at all the great images you all have. I
look forward to the next LOTR Movie to see what we can use for
next years costume. |
